Safety Philosophy

We believe that every employee is responsibile for working safely, and that the primary responsibility for implementation of our Safety Program belongs to our Field Supervisors.  On larger jobs we assign Field Safety Personnel to support supervisors by providing advice, assistance and training.

   
Paul Herbold - Corporate Safety Director

 

BA, WWU, with 31 years professional safety experience, including 5 years Safety Engineering Experience in the Insurance Industry, 10 years as plant Safety & Training Manager in large manufacturing plants, and 16 years in industrial construction safety. 1st Aid and CPR qualified.  Professional Member American Society of Safety Engineers since 1990.  Paul is a Veteran with 7 years active duty in the US Army, including duty tours in Vietnam and Germany.  He joined DBC in 2002

 

 

Ray Pierce – Field Safety Coordinator

17 years Safety experience, including 11 years in various safety and training capacities in the pulp and paper industry and 6 years in heavy industrial construction. Currently completing the Evergreen Safety Council Safety Specialist Certification Program. 1st Aid and CPR qualified. Joined DBC in 2003

 

 

Marc Breckenridge – Field Site Safety

22 years heavy industrial craft experience, 4 years heavy industrial construction safety experience, completed OSHA 500 course, qualified OSHA 10 instructor and is currently completing the Evergreen Safety Council Safety Specialist certification program.  Marc has 15 years of experience as a water and diving rescue specialist with Skagit County Search and Rescue.  He is 1st Aid and CPR qualified, and is a Vietnam Veteran with 7 years service in the USAF as a C141 loadmaster.  Marc joined DBC in 2003

   
Desta
 
Modesta Urbano - Field Site Safety
  Desta was hired as a Field Safety Specialist in August.  She earned her bachelors degree from Central Washington University, and has several years of construction safety experience in local oil refineries.  In addition, she has been a volunteer firefighter for the past 7 years and is a certified EMT instructor.  She is currently assigned responsibility for field safety on the Blast Proof Operator Shelter project at the BP Cherry Point Refinery.
