Project Description

DIAMOND B CONSTRUCTORS, INC. was contracted for the construction of a new oil pumping station at Laurel, Washington to improve service to Puget Sound Refineries.

Two 2,500hp medium voltage pumps were installed, the relief at the station was upgraded, and two 96,000 barrel storage tanks were connected and re-commissioned.  A 300hp medium voltage booster pump was also installed to increase pump suction pressure from the storage tanks.

The use of 3D modeling allowed the design team to satisfy complex pumping requirements while ensuring excellent operability. Station safety was at the forefront of all decisions.

All equipment was commissioned and brought online during a winter 2008 shutdown without any delays to the terminals.
