Project
Description
DBC was awarded a $3 Million contract
to construct a new liquefied natural gas storage facility near
Gig Harbor WA. The facility stores liquefied natural gas in a
cryogenic state for subsequent injection into PSE’s gas
distribution system during periods of peak demand.
Work scope included
total construction of the facility including land clearing, significant
re-contouring and grading, complex foundations, cryogenic process
piping and equipment installation, buildings, and shop fabrication
and field installation of three large equipment skids. The control
system permits remote startup and operation of the facility.
The main cryogenic storage tank was
12 ½ feet in diameter, 114 feet long, weighed 160,000 lbs
empty and has a capacity of 70,000 gallons.
Project
Challenges & Solutions
The construction site
included designated sensitive wetlands which required special
protection during construction.
