Project
Description
DBC
joined forces with Sellen Construction to build this new
Ambulatory Care Building at Children’s Hospital. The
work involved demolition of 2 existing buildings and replacement
with a new state of the art facility.
DBC’s
portion of the work is valued at $12.5 Million, and involved
a work force of up to 100 skilled craftsmen for a period
of 2 years. The work scope included 2 large mechanical rooms,
HVAC duct fabrication and installation, plumbing, medical
gas, installation of 3 very large roof mounted penthouse
HVAC units.
DBC's
scope of work also includes renovation of the existing facility
that is continuing to provide 24 hour patient care.
Work of this nature requires close coordination with hospital
staff to minimize impact on patients and staff.
Project
Challenges & Solutions
One
of the unique challenges DBC faced on this project was the
extremely limited space for material storage and staging.
DBC was allocated an area measuring 8 X 24 feet for storage
of all materials, equipment, ducting and fixtures. This
necessitated a “just in time” delivery system
and exceptionally close planning and scheduling.
